Star turn at this year's AGM

Guardian Arts and Heritage correspondent and Museum's Journal columnist Maev Kennedy was the guest speaker at this year's SW Federation AGM. Known for her plain speaking and sideways look at museums and the tangles we get into with 'sector speak', the event was as challenging and entertaining as we all expected with a lively debate and many questions for Maev afterwards.

What did you do at the museum today?

The North East Regional Museums Hub has published the Museum Careers Guidebook to raise awareness of the range of jobs that exist in the museum and gallery sector. Aimed at students, they can find out more about the variety of careers through job profiles and interviews with members of staff. There are also hints and tips on gaining the right qualifications and getting relevant experience, in addition to advice on how to get that all important ‘foot in the door.’
