010 - Housekeeping and preventative conservation

Date: 9th February 2010

Time: 10.30am to 4.00pm

Place: The Sawmill, Tyntesfield, Wraxall, North Somerset BS48 1NX

Who is it for? Those planning and carrying out daily and longer term preventative conservation/housekeeping routines within museums and historic houses

What will I learn?

  • an introduction to the National Trust's methods of preventative conservation
  • standard techniques used in daily cleaning and longer term care
  • there will also be the opportunity to practise the techniques demonstrated in the house itself

Who is the trainer? The day is led by Sarah Stanley, conservator (west) at The National Trust.  She has a background in metals conservation and has worked in both archaeology and social history conservation.
