The rich heritage of South Gloucestershire comprises community museums, industrial heritage centres, historic houses, sites and gardens which celebrate the diverse industrial and historic area renowned for its beautiful countryside. The museums, often managed by local volunteers, hold collections and do important work preserving the history of the area and are particularly appealing to local people and specialist groups. You can find out about treasures, talks and lectures, exhibitions, events and activities by visiting the South Gloucestershire Council website to see the list of local museums and attractions.
Our County Reps provide a communication channel between members and the South West Fed Board. They have a slot at county group meetings to provide information and news, and can feed back information to our Board about things you tell them, such as training needs, local news, meeting dates, successes, challenges etc.

Museum Development Officers are managed by the South West Museum Development Programme and provide a wide range of free support, advice and help to the museums in their area. They co-ordinate meetings, visit museums, help with writing policies and grant applications and are a fund of useful information on everything to do with running a museum.
