Bath and North-East Somerset boasts a wide range of independent and city council run museums including The Museum of Bath at Work, Bath Postal Museum, The Museum of East Asian Art, No. 1 Royal Crescent, Herschel Museum of Astronomy, The American Museum in Britain, Radstock Museum, Bath Royal Literary & Scientific Institution, Holburne Museum of Art, Beckford’s Tower, Building of Bath Museum, the Roman Baths, the Victoria Art Gallery and the Fashion Museum!
Despite the range in size, subject matter and resources, all the museums in Bath work together to produce a variety of collaborative events including joint exhibitions, Heritage Open Week (in October) and Museums at Night – which received a commendation in the national Museums & Galleries Month Awards 2007.

Our County Reps provide a communication channel between members and the South West Fed Board. They have a slot at county group meetings to provide information and news, and can feed back information to our Board about things you tell them, such as training needs, local news, meeting dates, successes, challenges etc.

Museum Development Officers are managed by the South West Museum Development Programme and provide a wide range of free support, advice and help to the museums in their area. They co-ordinate meetings, visit museums, help with writing policies and grant applications and are a fund of useful information on everything to do with running a museum.
