A programme has been created with the help of the Heritage Lottery Fund support to help organisations across Cornwall successfully deliver heritage building and construction projects.

Firm Foundations has been created by Cornwall Museums Partnership, K2 Funding and Tate St Ives. The four-day programme is designed to build the confidence of people who are about to embark on their first capital project, and build a network of support across the heritage sector.

Taking place at Porthmeor Studios, St Ives on 11th May, 15th June and 28th September, and at Krowji, Redruth on 16th June the course includes over 16 sessions hosted by professional experts, and will share their insights and experience of multiple capital projects involving heritage buildings into the industry and how it works. Topics to be covered range from understanding project costs and procurement, to construction contracts and getting the most out of your architect.

Firm Foundations offers delegates the opportunity to learn from respected professionals; share ideas and concerns in a supportive, confidential environment, and call on support from experts and peers.

Thanks to HLF support, delegate places are available for £200 per person. This includes four days training with lunch and refreshments provided, and an evening dinner with special guest speaker on 15th June. The programme is also delighted to be able to offer 2 bursaries to enable volunteer-led organisations to take part in the programme.
