Project Manager - Weymouth Museum Trust

Weymouth Museum Trust are seeking an experienced museum project managerto lead on the development of a new museum for Weymouth.
Weymouth Museum currently operates from a temporary space within the Brewers Quay building in Hope Square. The Museum has about 20,000 items in its collections which include fine art, social and community history, photography, costume, ceramics, maritime history, transport and local industry. The Museum is now planning to move into a large ‘designed for purpose’ space within the historic brewery building adjacent to Weymouth Harbour, and has achieved a Round 1 National Lottery Heritage Fund pass for an £800,000 programme to create a completely new museum. The Museum is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager to develop the project during the Development and Implementation phases. The intention is that with the appointment of a suitable candidate the role will develop into the future Museum Manager/Curator with the opening of the Museum. The initial appointment will be for 12-15 months with possible extension upon successful completion of the Round 2 application. Tasks will include:
• To lead on the successful development of the project to the Round 2 National Lottery Heritage Fund application stage for Weymouth Museum.
• To project manage the project during implementation, working closely with the Museum Trustees, building developers, interpretation team and other consultants on this element.
• To manage the work of the other consultants working on the project.
• To assist the fundraising consultant in securing the remaining external funding and other appropriate financial support for the project. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing development projects. They will have excellent people skills, be highly organised and IT literate, with a good understanding of the heritage sector and of commercial and National Lottery Heritage Fund funding process requirements.
