Marketing and Communications Officer - The New Room

The New Room is currently recruiting a part-time marketing and communications officer. We are looking for a creative and innovative individual to help build the New Room brand and promote our range of events and services.

The New Room is an award-winning heritage attraction nestled in Bristol’s city centre and welcomes visitors from across the world to an ‘oasis of calm’ in the busy shopping quarter of Broadmead. Also known as John Wesley's Chapel, it is the oldest Methodist building in the world, and welcomes 50,000 visitors every year. The site includes a hands-on museum, Fairtrade cafe, shop, education facility, library and archive. We deliver a wide ranging events programme of community and family activities, services, music, exhibitions, talks and lectures. We are looking for a marketing and communications officer:
  • To raise and maintain the profile and brand identity of the New Room
  • To grow our audience; aiming to increase footfall and income
  • To build up and strengthen internal and external communication systems

Your work will be across multiple digital and print media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, MailChimp, WordPress website and communicating with print publications. We are looking for a candidate with experience managing social media business accounts, and creating on-brand print, audio-visual and digital content. Your role will include carrying out a social media audit, monitoring the effectiveness and developing our promotional materials and marketing campaigns. You will be the lead for media enquiries, actively engaging with and growing our external media contacts. This is a varied role, suited to a proactive creative thinker who is keen to be involved in all aspects of marketing and communications, from strategic PPC campaigns to live promotion at events.

Part-time 15 hours per week, with flexible working hours and a mix of on-site and home working 6-month fixed term contract, starting 1st December 2020. Full role description can be downloaded on www.newroombristol.org.uk/job-vacancies
