Bath’s highly acclaimed Holburne Museum is seeking a part-time (flexible hours) Finance Assistant to support the smooth running of the Finance Department.
Job Title: Finance Assistant
Reports to Head of Finance
Hours: 18 hours per week [0.48FTE]
Salary £20-£22,000k pa (pro rata) depending on experience
Responsible for sales ledger and purchase ledger transactions, bank reconciliations and for assisting with other financial transactions and reporting.
JOB PURPOSE
The post holder will provide book keeping for 2 legal organisations:
Charity - Holburne Museum Trust Company and Trading company - Holburne Museum Trading Company Ltd
MAIN
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Sales and Purchase Ledgers: Raise all sales invoices, All purchases and sales invoices coded & entered onto finance system – Sage, Prepare and set up payment runs, Ensure all supplier and customer statements are reconciled on a regular basis
Bank postings and reconciliations [3 main bank accounts] on a monthly basis
Petty Cash
Responsible for petty cash: Reconciliation on a monthly basis, Business card & Staff expense forms,
Process, code and post to Sage
EPOS/DATABOX, Export Sales data from both systems, check and post to Sage, Streamline analysis and postings
VAT, Run and initial check of draft quarterly VAT returns for both entities
Management Accounts – assistance on quarterly basis, Prepare budget holder reports, Other ad hoc reports when required
Other financial management reporting: Collect and enter data for various financial spreadsheet reports
KPI, Weekly KPI reports preparation
Other duties: Carry out general finance duties including posting of journals, Assisting with the preparation of the year end accounts for audit
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
The following experience and skills are essential:
Excellent numeracy and literacy skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Good Microsoft Office Skills, particularly Excel and Word
Good working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts
Familiar with business principles and practices
Excellent communication skills
Ability to manage work to strict accounting deadlines
Ability to investigate and analyse financial data
Ability to work on own initiative
Professionalism and honesty
