Community Engagement Coordinator - Leach 100 Centenary Project

The Leach Pottery is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to join us at an exciting time as we begin our Leach 100 Centenary programme.

12 month contract (potential for 6 month extension dependant on funding) 0.8 to 1 FTE (4-5 days a week) 19K pro rata (dependant on experience) The Leach Pottery is approaching its centenary and seeks to recognise this occasion by planning and implementing related and cohesive events and activities. ‘Leach 100’ provides a unique opportunity for the Leach Pottery to recognise and celebrate key elements of its histories, stories, people, and contributions to artistic and pottery culture. ‘Leach 100’ also affords the Leach Pottery the chance to confirm its position in its neighbourhood, amongst the national and international community of potters and artists, and among existing and new audiences alike. We are currently seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to engage people of all ages in developing their creative skills through ceramics and to create links between the Pottery, young people, adult learners, schools, colleges and communities.

Overview: Planning and facilitating workshops and events in the Take Part! programme of the Leach 100 Project, including event organising, delivering workshops and managing administration (with support of the Project Admin Assistant). With help and support from Learning & Participation Team, working on:

  • Outdoor Clay School
  • Raku Tea Parties
  • Schools Competition
  • Pop Up Shop
  • Tea Ceremony

Main responsibilities:

  • Take an overall responsibility for the schedule of events and workshops for Leach 100 project (see Leach 100 funding proposal).
  • Plan out and schedule workshops and events for Leach 100 in conjunction with L&P Team.
  • Contact local community groups (with support) to engage in Outdoor Clay School.
  • Contact local and national schools (with support) to participate in our Leach 100 Schools Competition and process entries, help organise prizes and set up final exhibitions.
  • Deliver some of the workshops for Leach 100 project, some Saturdays will be required.
