Museum Skills: Making the Most of Your Textile Skills in Caring for Costume & Textile Collections
During the course you will learn about the priorities in caring for costume and textile collections both for display and storage. You will be encouraged to use your experience of working with textiles, professionally or otherwise, to identify signs of deterioration and signs of the history of use of the garment or textile. We will look at how this information can be recorded and used to inform display and storage decisions. We will explore concrete steps you can take to improve the conditions of Costume & Textile Collections. The day will involve theory presentation and practical sessions.

Who should attend:

Those with responsibility for Costume & Textile Collections, who have experience and skills in working with textiles, whether professionally or otherwise, paid or volunteer. A kit will be provided for each delegate to take back to their museum.

Subsidised access for SWFed members!
