Brian Stewart (1953-2010)
Following a cycling accident, Brian Stewart sadly died on 12th December 2010, aged 57. Director of Falmouth Art Gallery since 2000, Brian was one of the most colourful members of the museum community in the South West. His inspired and creative approaches to interpreting art and working with members of society who felt excluded will be long remembered by us all. He was particularly successful in his work with children and his Family Falmouth project helped the gallery to win The Guardian's Family Friendly Museum prize in 2006. Samantha Seagull was one of his inspired creations and he became a Trustee of Kids in Museums. Brian was awarded a Fellowship of the Museums Association in 2009. He leaves a widow and two young sons. The SW Federation sends their condolences to them.
