Job: Collections Officer, Helicopter Museum, Somerset

The Helicopter Museum is looking for a part time Collections Office to fulfil a minimum of 18 hours per week spread across Wednesday/Thursday/Saturday.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision and ongoing development of the collections volunteer team, working to catalogue the museum’s collection. The museum holds an ever growing collection of helicopters, helicopter documentation, manuals, models and suchlike, all of which is being catalogued and cared for within an existing collections management system.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for liaising with and managing aircraft restoration teams, and caring for exhibits.

An ideal candidate is someone with existing experience and knowledge of collections management theory and practical application. Experience of using MODES or a similar collections management database is essential as is an understanding of SPECTRUM. An understanding and appreciation of conservation and collections care is desirable.

An interest in aviation is not essential but would be considered advantageous.
