Collaborative Doctoral Awards 2010

The AHRC has announced that it has secured funding for 10 additional Collaborative Doctoral Awards (CDA) to support a number of specified subject areas. Applications for these additional awards must be made through the main CDA competition closing on 29th October 2009 and all awards are expected to commence in October 2010.

High-quality applications in the following areas are invited:

Museums Studies

·         Projects in Museology (history, theory or practice)

·         Projects where the partner is a private, independent, regional or local authority museum or gallery, or a charitable trust

·         Projects where the student will gain curatorial skills to equip them in their future career

How to apply Applications are to be submitted to the 2010 round of the Collaborative Doctoral Awards in the same way as a standard application. If you feel your application falls within the areas highlighted above, you will need to add a small additional paragraph in the Case for Support using the heading ‘Highlight Call’ at the beginning of the document.  This will be taken into account when the panel allocate the additional 10 awards. The full guidance on how to apply is available on the website.  The closing date is 4pm on Thursday 29 October 2009. Additional Information Please note the following which may be important in encouraging smaller organisations or businesses considering a CDA but with concerns over the feasibility or viability of committing to such a partnership in the current economic climate. ·         Studentships may be held on a full-time or part-time basis .·         Provided they meet the eligibility criteria and are the most suitable person to undertake the doctoral research an employee of a partner organisation may be nominated for a part-time studentship.·         Financial contributions for additional maintenance offered to the student (suggested as £1,000 p.a.) can be waived or reduced subject to approval by the AHRC and provided that adequate in-kind support is being offered.
