At the 2007 AGM the membership of the South Western Federation voted to create two sub-regions for Gloucestershire based upon the two current County Museum Groups, representing 'Gloucestershire' and 'South Gloucestershire'.

Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire have just published a report into the findings of a survey of volunteer contribution to museums in the two counties.  The survey revealed that volunteers contribute a staggering £1.1M in time and skills a year to the sector during 2009.
