Dorset Museums have many varied collections of archaeological, geological, social history and fine art material.
All of Dorset's museums are independent charities, some of which receive funding from their local councils, but nearly all rely on their own fundraising and/or admission charges.
The local South Western Hub museum for Dorset is the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum in Bournemouth.
