I work as a Museum Learning Officer, allowing our visitors to learn more about our museums and their objects. My particular field of interest is natural sciences and I cover everything from animals and plants through to rocks and fossils. I deliver learning opportunities for people from 0 years through to over 90 years old, through school workshops, family trails, field trips, family activity days, talks and tours.
With the SW Fed I organise bi-annual meetings for our members. I really enjoy this because I am able to book venues across the region and have the opportunity to meet people and see museums across the South West that would otherwise be out of reach with my core job. The SW Fed allows me to see what's going on in the wider museum world and to engage with the bigger pciture beyond my own work in Bristol.
