Ed is a freelance consultant and trainer providing guidance in digital imaging and related subjects to the heritage and academic sectors and works 3 days a week as co-ordinator for the Federation.
Ed has over 20 years of experience as a professional photographer and image-maker working with a range of analogue and digital media from microfiche to digital image. He studied at the London College of Printing (London Institute) on the newly formed MA (Hons) in Digital Imaging, where he specialised in the creation and delivery of online digital image databases.
Having successfully completed his MA, Ed worked for a year at TATE Gallery, defining and establishing the infrastructure and methodology for digital capture with the TATE InSight project. He then spent 3 years as the Senior Technical Research Officer at the Technical Advisory Service for Images (TASI) based at the Institute for Learning and Research Technology (ILRT) – University of Bristol.
At TASI, Ed was responsible for providing an in-depth knowledge of all technical matters involved with the capture, storage and delivery of digital images.
