Hello, I am Clive Fisher and am the Treasurer and Company Secretary of our Federation. I became involved in museums in 1971 when I was asked to a social event arranged by the Friends of my local museum. At the time I thought that a museum was possibly a strange place to hold a dance so I went along out of curiosity. The evening led to me becoming a member of the Friends, becoming their Auditor, later their Secretary and finally their Treasurer. In 1977 an unexpected opportunity gave me a career change and I became the administrator of the museum of which I was a Friend. In the years that followed I was privileged to sit on the Committee of the British Association of Friends of Museums arranging one Conference and editing an edition of their newsletter. In 1989 I moved to my present museum in Poole to be in charge of the front of house team. I was to become in 2000 the Museum Development Manager and write a successful application to the Heritage Lottery Fund for money to redevelop the Museum. This project will be completed in the coming Spring and will coincide with my retirement. I would like to think that the coming years will enable me to continue work in the museums sector as a voluntary capacity in some way. I believe that the Federation is capable to achieving great things but it needs us all working together for our museums and the museum community.
